HARRY DAVID CANDELA
WELCOME!
Why study political science?
Because politics matter.
Politics affect your everyday life. Politics are how people organize themselves and the rules they live by. From running your household to growing a business, every aspect is influenced by laws and regulations where you or your business are located. Knowledge of government processes, active engagement, connecting patterns and predicting future direction are keys to successfully guarding your freedom and future prosperity.
As a Regent University Master of Arts in Public Policy graduate with five years' experience teaching U.S. and international students, I offer expertise in political science theory and practice. My goal is to give you the best education augmented by essential tools to understand and participate in the political processes which regulate your life.

PERSONAL PROFILE
As early as during the Carter administration, I saw first hand the effects of politics on everyday life - from long lines at gas stations to double digit inflation and unemployment. Politics was essentially linked to daily life and provided an answer to defense from external threat, deliver justice, and unleash the natural path to prosperity. Based on logic, examining what seemed most natural, it developed into a personal passion, to become expert in the science and art of politics, as well as, out of duty, to pass this insight, knowledge, understanding, and wisdom on to others. Six years of formal study, continuing informal study, and life experience have provided vast resources upon which to draw and enrich students of political science. A resident of the Virginia, I am proud to be of service to citizens within the Old Dominion and beyond.
PROFESSIONAL OUTLOOK
To truly be an educator is to help others develop their reasoning and problem solving abilities while in the pursuit of survival, success and ultimately wisdom, which includes further character development in the process to achieve real world goals. It is a balance with principle and practicality for our own humanity under the Rule of Law built on Rights. One hears about freedom and equality so often, but personal responsibility which adds additional meaning to life should should be of importance. Despite any flaws, Western Culture and Civilization continue to progress. Now might be said to be the best that humanity has ever lived. Thanks to various forms of ethos including "The Golden Rule," "There but for the grace of G-d go I," "Love thy neighbor, "What comes around goes around," "It can be better," "One can make a difference," and more. So much of which might even spite and scoff at unbearable suffering for a sense of accomplishment, development, depth, grace, fairness, justice, and even thanks in living a full life.

HOMESTEADER, STRUCTURAL CREATIVE
2016-present
Currently building the infrastructure of a homestead, starting with improvements to the home. Please be on the lookout for posts of projects with inventive approaches using alternative materials. The first major enhancement is to a previously unfinished attic using reclaimed wood, so carefully planned that only minimal waste is left. Other completed projects have been in and around a rental condominium to enhance the property's safety, value and curb appeal. Please click 'Learn More' to see video demonstrations.
AQUATICS PROFESSIONAL
2002-2016
From instructing groups of all ages in proper swim techniques to aqua arthritis and aerobics for adults, aquatics training has been a lifelong passion. In addition to saving 50 lives from drowning in the course of a career, I provided solid Red Cross swim training to my students, which enabled them to either avoid potentially dangerous situations or take corrective action. Aqua arthritis and aerobics for adult learners has helped students to become more healthy while minimizing joint pain and damage. Volunteered vision and extensive time upgrading Norfolk State University Aquatics. Volunteered significant labor repairing boats for Granby High School Rowing Team. Rebuilt the Portsmouth Public Aquatics Program.
EDUCATOR
1996-2005
Providing Civics, Policy, History, Ecology, Biology, Chemistry, English, Methodology and Culture instruction to students of diverse nationalities both abroad and in the United States has been the most rewarding work of my career. University and secondary school students are at the optimum level for understanding the foundational principles of political systems relevant to their present and future life. Working with these students in diverse subjects, it is most inspiring to see them engage in civic action as they mold their future.
